Zheng Shaokun
Zheng Shaokun, whose sobriquet is Gao Lao, was born in Yangshuo town of Guilin in 1966. After being graduated from Chengdu Arts College of Sichuan province in 1988, specializing in mountain-and-water, flower-and-bird. Zheng Shaokun is the inspector general of Guilin Brush and Ink Art Academy, and an academician at the Guilin Graduate Institute of Washing Painting. Before he creates a painting he meditates on nature for inspiration. His works are bright and smooth, vigorous, with great momentum, and full of life. They have been shown in many exhibitions and have won many awards in China and in the world. The painting "Simple and honest clear spring", "Light of Night in the Cold River", "The Rising Wind Forebodes the Coming Storm”, and “The Wind Sweeping Through the Tower Heralds a Rising Storm in the Mountain" are representative of his works. Some of his paintings have been included in such famous collections as Chinese Famous Classical Paintings; Collections of Three Hundred Chinese Painters, and others.
