Ma Yun
Ma Yun is famous in the art circle for
drawing tiger and dragon. In his painting, one can not only
feel the excellent style of the outstanding painters Zhang
Daqian and Zhang Shan’a, but also can feel his pursuit of
originality and innovation.
Since Ma Yu first touched traditional
Chinese painting in the end of the 50s, he has been studying
how to draw tiger for over 40 years. He is one of the priding
students of the tiger-drawing professor Hu Shuang’an. It is
Mr.Hu who named him Ma Yun. Ma Yun always goes to the lion and
tiger Hill in the Beijing Park to observe and sketch tigers
attentively in order to draw tigers true to life in the
painting. The standing, running, jumping, attacking and lying
of tigers are deeply impressed on him. Tigers painted by him
are vivid and true to life.
In fact, Ma Yun draws dragons as well as tigers. In 1990, in
the painting collection activity held by the Ministry of
Culture, All-China Culture Federation and the Ti’an Men
Administrative Office, Ma Yun created a huge flying dragon on
the sky signifying China’s development. The whole picture
measures 4 meters. As he drew the last touch, the whole
traditional Chinese painting circle and every famous precedent
marvel at this great picture. They acknowledged that this
painting pushed the activity to the climax. The Picture is
unique in design, the drawing is exquisite and the majesty
dragon in the picture soars into the sky symbolizing the
vigorously development of China. Now, Ma Yun is entering the
middle age, but his painting career is on it peak. His art
achievement is unforeseeable.
